Gurulé Cousins Corner

Biography:

I was born in Covina, California, to Henry Montoya Garcia and Genevieve Gertrude Drehobl. My father is descended from the Gurule's through his maternal grandmother, Anita Donaldson, and her second husband, Jesus Viscaino.

Santiago Gurule and Elena Gallegos
Antonio Gurule and Antonia Quintana
Tomas Gurule and Maria Pascuala Griego
Pedro Bautista de Jesus Gurule and Maria Dolores Duran
Juan Jose Gurule and Maria Andrea Valencia
Jose Domingo Gurule and Maria Casilda Garcia
Maria Marcelina Gurule and John Donaldson
Anita Donaldson and Jesus Viscaino

In July 1971, my parents decided it would be better to raise us kids in New Mexico, and with the aircraft industry being what it was at the time, Dad found a new job, sold the house in La Puente, CA and we were headed for Santa Clara (then known as Central), NM. Long story short, I graduated from Cobre High School in Bayard, NM (two miles from Central) in 1982, then graduated from Western New Mexico University in Silver City "some years" later. I spent about nine years total working in this and other states, putting my degree to good use, but I now reside in Santa Clara again.

For anyone interested, I have amassed a great deal of history and genealogy on the Garcia family from Cuchillo, NM (circa late 1800s/early 1900s). The Cuchillo Dozen; i.e., Teofilo Garcia's and Teresita
Lopez-Garcia's children. I have family tree information on both of them going back about eight generations. This links me to Ramon Garcia-Jurado of El Morro (of Inscription Rock fame) on the Garcia side. I would be very interested in hearing any and all history/genealogy of families from
Cuchillo, Monticello, Chise, Socorro, Luis Lopez, etc., especially the Garcia, Montoya, Aragon, Lopez, Tafoya, and Trujillo surnames. Contact me at danswhitez
